The Process
I was once told by a drawing professor that a drawing is nothing more than a record of an activity. The drawing could be a visual representation of an activity as in a drawing of someone playing a guitar, or an abstract representation that gives a feel of what it is like to experience that activity. I chose to approach my paintings with the idea of recording the activity of painting. There are no representative elements in these paintings, but the physical act of painting is easily recognized. The different layers, smudges, drips, and colors capture what it is like to create one of these paintings.
